Job Description

This position is responsible for various general ledger posting and reconciliation processes for Credit Union transaction activity. Responsibilities include ensuring transactions are posted correctly and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Incumbent must possess solid knowledge of operational processes to independently analyze account variances, isolate differences, and make the appropriate corrections. Reconciliations must be performed timely within regulatory requirement timeframes to protect the Credit Union's right of recourse and minimize loss exposure.
 

Essential Functions

  • Post, analyze, and reconcile activity for assigned accounts to ensure accounts reflect the appropriate balances and postings comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Perform the daily reconciliation of portfolios and related general ledger accounts. Complete assigned tasks timely and accurately. Work closely with various cross-functional staff and management to research and resolve differences.
  • Perform assigned month-end processing and closing duties. Analyze, assess, calculate, and post accruals for assigned income and expense transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP. Prepare formal reconciliations to include appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Other job-related duties assigned commensurate with position grade, including technical support and cross-coverage of other Accounting Specialist tasks.
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent.
  • Associate's Degree in Accounting or a related field. preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field. preferred
  • 3+ years combined experience in an accounting function, financial services member service, or related functions

Each year of relevant work experience may be exchanged for a year in a relevant degree program or vice versa. For example, a requirement of a bachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of accounting experience could be substituted for a high school diploma and 6 years of relevant accounting work experience or a master's degree in accounting and 0 years of work experience.

Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to analyze situations and transactions related to this position and make independent, relevant business decisions.
  • Ability to manage a high level of detail with absolute accuracy, and ability to employ common sense.
  • Possess a solid understanding of Microsoft Office Word and Excel with a strong ability to learn and interact with web-based software.
  • Formal accounting training and development, preferably through university coursework. (i.e. Accounting Principles)
  • Fundamental understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word/Excel/Outlook).

Additional Information

The hourly range for this position is $20.50 to $25.06 (S12)

This position is eligible for our corporate bonus program based on company performance.
