Description / Position Overview

Photo Enforcement Technician 

CSPD (Colorado Springs Police Department) seeks a Photo Enforcement Technician to enforce compliance with posted speed limits and red-light traffic control devices through the use and review of the photo red system in order to identify offenders.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:

  • Use Verra Photo Red System to research vehicles and owners of vehicles for identification purposes
  • Use a variety of law enforcement databases to locate current contact information for suspected violators
  • Maintain tracking of suspected violators to ensure payments are made
  • Initiate phone contact with violators that have not paid their summons before the deadline
  • Resolve concerns violators may have about the photo red citation
  • Prepare actionable reports from current data for Officers so they can physically serve a summons to suspected violators that have not paid by the deadline
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

Knowledge of:
  • Basic police department procedures and protocol
  • Modern office equipment including computers and supporting software
  • Investigative practices and law enforcing databases
Ability to:
  • Communicate with suspected violators
  • Communicate with the public, law enforcement, and outside agencies
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships


Successful candidates will have

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of law enforcement experience directly related to investigative work
  • Possess, or obtain within three months of hire, the following certifications: Colorado Bureau of Investigation, National Criminal Information Center/Colorado Criminal Information Center, CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System), and Colorado CourtLink certifications

Ideal candidates will also have

  • Prior experience as a certified peace officer
  • Experience in law enforcement data bases
  • Investigative experience in locating offenders

Additional Information

The job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a polygraph examination, extensive background check, and other pre-employment assessments.
