JOB AS WELDER II

Location:
Steel Fabrication Shop [Colorado Springs, CO]

Reports To:
Shop Foreman, Assistant Shop Foreman

Job Summary:
The Welder II position is intended for individuals with intermediate-level welding experience in steel fabrication. This role requires performing a wide range of welding operations with moderate supervision, applying various welding techniques, and ensuring that all welds meet company and Industry standards for strength, precision, visual acceptance and appearance. The ideal candidate will be confident in their technical skills, knowledgeable about different welding processes, and welding procedures dedicated to maintaining safety and quality in all aspects of work.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform intermediate-level welding tasks using GMAW processes based on project requirements.
2. Blueprint Reading: Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications accurately.
3. Material Preparation: Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, cutting, and aligning components.
4. Inspection: Inspect welds for accuracy (fabrication details), strength, and compliance with quality standards.
5. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain welding equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition and reporting any issues promptly.
6. Assist less experienced welders with setup techniques, and safety practices when needed.
7. Quality Control: Learn to inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws and ensure that all work meets company & quality standards.
8. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure efficient workflow.
9. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in the shop.
10. Professional Development: Participate in on-the-job training, workshops, and courses to improve welding skills and advance within the welding team

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; certification from a recognized welding program is preferred.
2. 1–3 years of experience in welding or steel fabrication with prior certification.
3. Strong proficiency in one or more welding processes (GMAW/GTAW/SMAW/FCAW).
4. Ability to read and understand welding blueprints and symbols.
5. Familiarity with welding inspection standards and techniques.
6. Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
7. Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically and perform repetitive tasks.
8. Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
9. Willingness to learn and a positive attitude towards feedback and improvement.

JOB AS FABRICATOR II

The Fabricator II position is for individuals with intermediate-level skills in steel fabrication. This role involves performing more advanced fabrication tasks with limited supervision, operating machinery independently, and ensuring that all work meets quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience, solid technical knowledge, and a proactive attitude toward maintaining efficiency and precision in the fabrication process.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform advanced fabrication tasks, including cutting, bending, and assembling complex steel components based on blueprints and specifications.
2. Operate machinery and tools such as saws, elaborate C&C presses, grinders, oxyacetylene torch, cutting torches and drills independently and safely.
3. Interpret and follow technical drawings and fabrication diagrams accurately.
4. Conduct quality checks to ensure components meet design tolerances and quality standards.
5. Assist with layout, fit-up, and alignment of fabricated parts for welding or final assembly.
6. Maintain an organized workspace and ensure all tools and materials are handled safely.
7. Support team productivity by training and assisting less experienced fabricators when needed.
8. Adhere to company safety procedures and always wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in fabrication is preferred.
