Job Description

Transition Curriculum Specialist

PEAK Parent Center, Colorado Springs, CO

Part-time 28 hrs./week

Project POWER, a new initiative at PEAK Parent Center for addressing the unique needs of transitioning youth with disabilities and their families in innovative ways, is looking for a Transition Curriculum Specialist.

Why is transition important?

  • Young adults with disabilities, ages 16 – 26, need assistance as they prepare to leave school and launch into their adult lives.

  • Families need assistance learning how to support their young people with disabilities during transition without getting in the way of them developing self-reliance and self-determination.

  • Youth (and their families) need to learn how to navigate complicated adult service systems to get the supports they need to move forward.

The Project POWER transition curriculum specialist will be responsible for creating and updating online and print tools, resources, and curricula to provide information and support to youth with all types of disabilities and their families from all cultural backgrounds.

Working with a web developer and the Project POWER team, the transition curriculum specialist will create PEAK’s first transition resource webpage and maintain the webpage with updated and relevant materials that meet Section 508 accessibility standards. The transition curriculum specialist will also design training curricula and create surveys and follow-up guides to evaluate the resources and curricula for relevance, high quality, usefulness, and participant impact.
