Job Description

Summary:
Supervises daily staff activities for the Tobacco Treatment Program. Provides Outpatient tobacco cessation counseling and serves as a tobacco treatment resource for physicians, staff and families.

Position Details:

FTE Status: Full Time

Shift: Days

FTE: 1.000000 (FTE x 80 = hours per pay period)

Responsibilities:
Determines, coordinates, and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.

Identifies and provides treatment to tobacco users utilizing motivational interviewing techniques.

Communicates with physicians, nurses, patients and pharmacy.

Educates patients on smoking cessation strategies, behavior modifications, addresses cessation challenges while collaborating with patients to create an individualized quit plan.

Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.

Assesses quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.

Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels. Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.


Requirements:

  • Tobacco Treatment Specialist
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Community Health, Public Health or related field.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: Master Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS).
    Minimum Experience: 1 year of related experience in tobacco cessation field.
