Torch Technologies is seeking an individual to provide contingency planning support to the USSPACECOM J5. The position requires an individual possessing a wide range of skills and demonstrated experience; to conduct strategic analysis, understand the strategic environment, assess strategic and operational – level challenges, and assess operational risks, leveraging the joint planning process in support of strategic contingency planning. The individual will work closely with senior-level military personnel to define, develop, coordinate, and publish USSPACECOM contingency plans.

Responsibilities include

Support the development of contingency plans through the Joint Planning Process in accordance with Joint Publication (JP) 5-0, Joint Planning and CJCS Guide 3130, Adaptive Planning and Execution Overview and Policy Framework.

Support the J5 in the development of contingency plans. Specific supporting tasks include; conducting analysis of strategic directions, visualizing the strategic environment, conducting assessment of major strategic and operational challenges, identifying potential opportunities, and conducting operational risk assessments.

Support the J5 in development of mission analysis, course of action development, war games, course of action comparison, selection, and plan development.

Support the command’s collaboration in Joint Staff strategic opportunity initiatives, cross-Combatant Command (CCMD) warfighters talks and war games, CCMD adversary strategic initiatives, and cross-CCMD integration regarding planning and operations.

Support to the creation, execution, and administrative maintenance of operational planning teams in support of strategic campaign and contingency plans’ development and assessment.

Support to the analysis, development, and integration of adversary-specific details in plans and targeting processes to include the development and maintenance of critical asset lists.

Understand and support USSPACECOM planning initiatives and objectives.

Job Requirements

The candidate should have a demonstrated experience in conducting strategic analysis, identifying strategic challenges and potential opportunities, conducting operational risk assessments. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working on a high-level staff, supporting senior-level military personnel. A successful candidate will have a clear understanding of the Joint Planning Process with successful experience at a CCMD headquarters.

Specific Requirements

Previous planning experience, and Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) II or equivalent credentials

Possess demonstrated experience working on a high-level military staff

Possess excellent oral and written communications capabilities

Possess critical thinking skills

Possess a demonstrated understanding of the Joint Planning Process (JPP) and familiarity using Joint Publication (JP) 5-0, Joint Planning

Possess a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 year’s planning experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree

Possess Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams skills

Possess a DOD Secret level clearance, and possess the ability to gain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Requirements

Possess previous experience working in the INDOPACOM theater or with Pacific based threats.

Possess previous Space planning experience at operational/theater level (e.g. Combatant Command, Joint/Combined Task Force, Component).

Possess certification from an advanced studies group (e.g. School of Advanced Air and Space Science, School of Advanced Military Studies, School of Advanced Warfighting)

Possess experience in supporting USSPACECOM, AFSPACE, NAVSPACE or SMDC/ARSPACE operations and/or exercises is desirable
