Job Description
In this position, you will conduct investigations on sales, use, Lodger’s and Auto Rental (LART), and bicycle taxes and collect delinquent taxes. This position models the organization’s core values and mission in all interactions with internal and external customers.
 
$3,463.00 - $4,157.00 Monthly 
 
Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
  • Work to collect delinquent taxes through multiple lines of communication, including phone calls, mailing, personal interviews, field calls, and electronic correspondence
  • Perform investigations through leads or electronic means to locate and collect delinquent taxes
  • Calculate taxes due; review financial documents; process notices of assessment; arrange payment installments
  • Review asset purchases to determine use tax liability; obtain purchase agreements or leases from taxpayers
  • Investigate and determine if a non-licensed business should be licensed
  • Provide back-up phone and counter customer service for the Central Finance Technicians
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

Knowledge of:
  • Municipal level sales and use tax
  • Basic math calculations and use of percentages
  • Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
  • Office computers and technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, accounting systems, and online-based technology applications, including accessing web-based platforms
  • Effective and appropriate communication
Ability to:
  • Provide customer service with excellence, humility, and integrity
  • Work effectively in a team environment with a diverse group of people, both inside and outside the organization
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships by building trust through effective listening skills and treating people professionally and respectfully

Job Requirements
Successful candidate will have
A high school diploma or GED supplemented by college-level course work in accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, or a related field
One year of full-time auditing, accounting, or tax collection experience
Posses or obtain upon hire, and maintain, a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver’s license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements..

Ideal candidates will also have
Experience working in a municipal government setting
Experience looking up information in electronic databases and utilizing other electronic resources to trace locations and contact information
