The Program Coordinator provides support to the Manager of Environment and First Impressions to ensure continuous support to employees and volunteers staffing the Welcome Center; First Pres members, new and potential members and visitors; and to volunteers, volunteer teams and lay leaders. Collaborates with the manager to strategize methods to achieve overall improvement and development of volunteer program, including developing and conducting a program that will enable ongoing recruitment, training and retention of volunteers.
The coordinator supervises and serves alongside employees and volunteers at the front reception desk, working closely with security, to ensure a safe, hospitable environment to congregants and visitors entering First Pres. The coordinator assists in the recruitment and selection of volunteers for specific tasks, committees and programs, ensuring sufficient volunteer coverage. The coordinator creates job descriptions for volunteer roles, provides orientation to newly recruited volunteers, organizes relevant training and opportunities for education, and manages social functions and events, communications and other volunteer support as needed.
Substantial administrative and organizational skills are necessary to succeed in this position and critical to maintain on time, well-communicated programs to our community both internal and external depending on the project.
The coordinator’s typical work schedule is Sunday through Thursday with days off on Fridays and Saturdays. This position is expected to also work on special worship or event days including but not limited to Holy Week and Easter Sunday, and Christmas Eve.
