Responsible for answering patient inquiries and phone calls, scheduling appointments and procedures, and providing excellent customer service. Reports to Patient Services Manager.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer multi-line telephone system promptly and in a polite and professional manner.
- Appointment scheduling
- Answer questions and offer information to provide exemplary patient-focused service.
- Contact patients to schedule appointments
- Obtain and enter accurate demographic information into EHR system
- Electronically file patient information
- Check patients in and out for office appointments
- Manage physician schedules
- Other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality – ability to train and meet HIPAA standards.
- Basic understanding of medical insurance concepts such as copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.
- Reliable attendance record and business professional attire
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy telephone environment
- Must have the ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact; excellent customer services and ability to work independently
- Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse people groups.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills; efficiency and accuracy
- Well developed verbal and written communication skills in English or bilingual
- Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Proven flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma
- Prior experience in medical office helpful
- Medical terminology helpful
