REPORTS TO: Assistant LOMT Supervisor
STATUS: Full time, Hourly, Non-exempt
This individual will be responsible for the daily support of optometric operations by delivering the highest quality of patient care and by ensuring appropriate staffing, training, assisting with patient flow, and support for physicians, manager and staff.
- Supervise technicians within a team at all locations.
- Responsible for the scheduling technicians within a team to meet workload; fills in within the team when needed.
- Responsible for the on-going development and training of technicians within a team regarding clinical competencies including testing.
- Ensures accurate and efficient work, documentation, and proper use of the EHR/EPM system.
- Facilitates daily clinical work flow to ensure excellent patient care; optimize staff workload & ensure breaks are being taken.
- Assists in the interviewing, hiring, training and performance management of staff within a team.
- Participates in continued training provided by the company for professional growth.
- Notifies facilities when inventory stock is low.
- Other tasks as assigned.

Proactively monitors physician schedules and templates for quality problems and scheduling opportunities.
Ensures that patients are treated in a prompt, courteous and professional manner.
Monitor and execute ongoing training structure to assure competencies are learned and maintained.
Works with management & HR as necessary to provide additional training within the team.
Ensures that safety and OSHA standards are being met.
Displays consistent professionalism.
Communicates directly and effectively with physicians, administration and staff.
Conforms to all RMEC policies and procedures.
Achieves cooperation and teamwork through effective communications and positive relations.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all time.
Position requires good communication and leadership skills. An understanding of ophthalmic practice and patient care is essential. Knowledge of medical instrumentation and its proper care and usage required. Ability to assess common safety hazards and take precautions to establish a safe work environment required. Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with patients, staff, physicians and management. Ability to adhere to applicable HIPAA guidelines.
High school diploma or GED.
One year experience as an optometric assistant/technician of level of the team.
Prior supervisory experience a plus.
Ability to use computers to document technical work up through EHR (NextGen).
Must fully understand clinic/patient flow and the various technician roles: refracting, work-ups, documenting medical histories and chief complaints, testing, scribing.
Excellent customer services skills required.
Excellent skills in written and oral communications.
Ability to multi-task and be self-motivated.
Minimum of 32 hours of work per week. However, position requires additional hours/days when Manager is out of office.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and current auto insurance policy.
Must be willing to travel to satellites offices as needed.
Must be able to stand, reach, bend, and squat repeatedly during the day.
Must be able to read and write
Must be able to type and perform data entry.
Must be able to hold arms at shoulder height.
Must be able to communicate via phone.
Must have manual dexterity to work with ophthalmic equipment.
Must be able to drive.
Must be able to lift up to 10-20 pounds to waist height.
