Position Summary:
- Performs skilled maintenance, repair, adjustment, and minor construction work in the trades to ensure that facilities are properly maintained and meet College standards. Duties may fall into a variety of trades, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, energy management, fire and life safety and keys/security systems.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.

Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.

Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed.

Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.

Performs routine maintenance on building systems.

Maintain functionality of plumbing systems

Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.

Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.

Education / Certifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Knowledge:

Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.

Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMPs) and major trades, such as carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, is required.

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Experience Required:
-
6 months to 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or repairs within a commercial or industrial environment.

Two years of education or training, or an associate degree, in the facilities maintenance trades, are preferred but not required.

Skills / Abilities:

Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems.

Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices.

Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.

Read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.

Ability to use basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and custodial hand and electric powered tools.

Demonstrated time management skills and including multi-tasking.

Keep computerized records and prepare reports.

Access and employ job related computer software (email, work planning, time-keeping) at an effective proficiency level.
