Position Summary:
Performs skilled maintenance, repair, adjustment, and minor construction work in the trades to ensure that facilities are properly maintained and meet College standards. Duties may fall into a variety of trades, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, energy management, fire and life safety, and keys/security systems.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Plans repair work using building blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
- Maintain functionality of plumbing systems
- Cleans and assists with the upkeep of the facilities.
- Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education / Certifications:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMPs) and major trades, such as carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration, is required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Five years of facilities maintenance, construction, or repair experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Two years of education or training, or an associate degree, in the facilities maintenance trades, may substitute for four years of work experience.
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems.
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.
- Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
- Read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.
- Ability to use basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and custodial hand and electric-powered tools.
- Demonstrated time management skills and including multitasking.
- Keep computerized records and prepare reports.
- Access and employ job-related computer software (email, work planning, time-keeping) at an effective proficiency level.
- Interacts with various levels of staff, guests, and vendors.
