Angels of America’s Fallen is seeking a full-time Development Director.
Angels of America’s Fallen (Angels) is a 501(c)(3) formed to empower children of our fallen military, police, fire, and EMS heroes by engaging them in positive activities throughout their entire childhood. We support the children not just one time, but through a commitment to see them engaged positively in healthy activities such as sports, music, and other arts all year, every year, all the way through 18 years old without having to reapply. These provided activities have coaches or instructors who can help provide some positive mentoring the children are missing without the guidance and support of their fallen hero. We allow the children to try as many activities as required to find a passion that is a fit for them at their current stage of development, and they can change their activity as their interests vary while they grow. This allows them to develop their own personal identity, increase self-confidence, and write their own story of success rather than growing up in the shadow of a hero. Although we cover the costs of their activities, our support is much more than just writing checks; we follow up with and encourage the children, and share in celebrating their successes throughout each year. This long term engagement is crucial for creating true lasting positive impact.
Full-time Development Director for Angels of America’s Fallen, headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO. Work location may be flexible. Salary will be commensurate with experience and other qualifications using the Colorado Nonprofit Association’s most current Salary Survey as reference. Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement (QSHERA) plan and retirement matching plan offered.
Fundraising Strategy Development and Execution - Create and execute a comprehensive development plan outlining the organization’s vision and strategy for expanding existing programs, and launching and maintaining new initiatives to increase fundraising revenue. Expand and diversify strategies to identify, educate, involve and cultivate existing and prospective donors with a specific emphasis on growing Angels’ fundraising efforts nationally. Conduct donor prospecting, stewardship and acknowledgment programs. Develop and maintain relationships with, and solicit individual recurring donors, foundation, and institutional donors. Lead multi-channel fund development efforts targeting national strategic partners and individual donors, businesses, foundations, and health, sports, and arts organizations. Initiate, advance and oversee special fundraising campaigns. Create a draft development budget including income and expense projections. Track, monitor and report on donor initiatives and results. Work with the finance and grant writing teams to track grant budgets for restricted programs.
Database Management - Develop and maintain a complete and comprehensive knowledge of Salsa CRM and Salsa Engage online platforms for donor management and engagement. Maintain and produce all necessary donor records in a timely manner. Manage Angels’ online fundraising presence, including donation pages and social media giving options.
Collaborate - Work with marketing teams, the CEO, program staff, grant writers, and the Board to achieve strategic goals, and to ensure consistent and regular messaging and communication to donors and potential donors. Maintain up-to date knowledge of current and future fundraising techniques and trends; advise CEO of opportunities to enhance existing processes and technologies. Provide analysis and interpretation of individual giving trends and fundraising effectiveness as well as develop strategic and long-range planning for individual giving growth. Provide strategic advice on development matters. Support and provide assistance to the CEO in his major donor fundraising efforts. Support the Board’s development committee in their fundraising efforts. Serve as development strategist for Board and committee members, including conducting Board fundraising activities and a Board engagement plan. Train and supervise volunteers and other assistants as needed. Support other operational needs and duties as assigned.
Experience with donor recruitment and retention, major donor strategies, grants, foundations, business sponsors, planned giving, and event planning.
Demonstrated success in growing and diversifying donor bases, especially in identifying and cultivating new constituencies through targeted campaigns.
Budgeting and financial management experience.
Experience or familiarity with CRM or donor management software programs.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, professionalism, and ability to adapt to change.
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
Be a “self-starter” and goal-driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
Be organized and exhibit follow through on tasks and goals.
A positive attitude and show concern for compassion for military and first responder families who continue to sacrifice for our country and community.
Military or first responder experience is a plus.
